Doubles within twenty

A double is two copies of the same amount. Halving is the opposite: share into two equal groups. Doubles also help with near doubles. For 6 + 7, double 6 is 12 and 7 is one more than 6, so the answer is one more: 13.

  1. Double means two equal groups of 3.
  2. 3 + 3 = 6.

Answer: 6

Double 2 is ?

  1. Double means two equal groups of 2.
  2. 2 + 2 = 4.

Answer: 4

Double 1 is ?

  1. Double means two equal groups of 1.
  2. 1 + 1 = 2.
