Fraction of a collection

To find 3/4 of 20, draw a bar for the 20 and split it into 4 equal boxes. One box is 20 ÷ 4 = 5. Three boxes are 3 × 5 = 15. Divide by the denominator to find one part, then multiply by the numerator. If you know a part and need the whole, work backwards: find one box first, then all the boxes.
